He was predeceased by: his siblings, Jack Gay, Betty Harville and Charlene Lindley. He is survived by: his daughter Melinda Sue Hill; and his siblings, J. D. "Boots" Gay, Bill Gay, Howard Gay, J. B. Gay, Archie Lee Gillespie and Carolyn Cowart.
