He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold "Buddy" Means and Wanda Sue Scrushy; and his stepfather William "Bill" Scrushy. He is survived by: his wife Wanda Means; his sons, Thomas Means (Amber), Donald Means and Ken Means; his grandchildren, Madison Means, Brianna Means, Colton Scrushy, Aubrie-Ann Means and John Thomas Means; and his cousins, Kay Roberts, Sharon Peek (Thomas), Denna Littrle, Nanette Storie and Barry Bates.
