He was predeceased by: his father Alva Oran "A. O."; his wife Mary Evelyn Smith; and his siblings, Dorothy McBryar, Alva Doris Dyer, Don Smith, Dan Smith and Donnie Sue Primavera.
He is survived by: his children, Shan Smith (Lesa) and Jeannie Ponce; his sister Bobbie Delores Gass; and his grandchildren, Stevie Ellis, R. J. Smith (Jodi), Mary Jacklyn Smith (Adam), Shanna Marie Reyes (Sergio), Jenica Montgomery and Joanna Whitley-Schlageter (Jared). He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
