He was predeceased by: his parents, William Henry and Betty Ann Patrick Carter; his sister Mary Carter Suurmeyer; and his brother-in-law Richard Suurmeyer. He is survived by: his wife Sandy Morris Carter; his stepchildren, Suzannah Parker and Casey Rhymes; his sister Suzy Carter Koths (Rich); his nephew Bo Ferman (Meagan); and his niece Emily Al-Shaer.
