He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert F. Helen and Mary Helen; and his siblings, Rosa Nell Estes Paine and Robert Eugene Estes (Bobby). He is survived by: his wife Martha Jane Finch Estes; his children, Sharon Pirkle of Douglasville Ga, Wendy Stovall of Talladega, Destiny Estes of Heflin Al, Kimberly Williams of Alpine Al, Steve Estes Jr. of Oxford Al, Shawn Collier of Heflin Al, Shane Estes of Newman Ga and Alan Estes of Norfolk Va; and his siblings, Annette Estes Thornley of Moncks Corner, SC., Gale Estes Landers of Birmingham Al and David Estes of Lineville Al. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
