He was predeceased by: his parents, William Arthur Mitchell, Sr. and Beulah Mae Cunningham Mitchell; and his sister Mamie Kate Atkinson. He is survived by: his wife Betty Gamble Mitchell; his children, Amanda Mitchell Mueller (Jon) of Headland and William E. "Bill" Mitchell; his granddaughter Annabelle Mitchell Mueller; and his nieces, Kay Atkinson Evans of Headland and Jill Atkinson Solomon (John) of Headland.
