She was predeceased by: her parents, Monroe DeShazo and Noma Ruth Gamble DeShazo; her husband Durwood Nowell; her children, Starla Nowell Schroll, Kenny Nowell and Ronny Nowell; and her sister Martha Mitchell.
She is survived by: her sons, Dr. Danny Nowell and Benny Nowell (Cynthia); and her sister Jimmie Ditty. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
