She was predeceased by: her husband Johney Ed Oates; her parents, William Jefferson Smith, Jr. (Doll) and Maggie Leona Capps Smith; and her siblings, Ralph A. Smith (Edna), Bowman Smith (Darrell), Mildred Smith Bedsole (Floyd) and Lorrell Smith Barnes (Frank).
She is survived by: her son Pat Edward Oates (Brenda); her sister-in-law Johnnie Ruth Taylor; her grandchildren, Matthew Oates (Didi), Lucas Oates (Whitney) and Rachel Oates Ranczka (Cory); her great grandchildren, Jase Oates, Jonah Oates, Ethan Davis and Cameron Nichols; and her nephew Larry Smith.
