He was predeceased by: his parents, Eular C. Dean and Lowdell Warren Dean; his siblings, Nora Jackson, Eula Mae Rhodes and Charles Edwards Dean; and his son Jarvis F. Dean.
He is survived by: his wife Lula C. Dean of Selma, Alabama; his children, Yolanda G. Dean of Selma, Alabama and Johnny C. Dean, Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia; his grandchildren, Brian Lane (Markeya) of Selma, Staussie J. Dean Lamar of San Diego and Thomas McCants, III of Selma, Alabama; his great grandchildren, Brian Lane, Jr. of Selma, Alabama, Caleb Lane of Selma, Alabama, Azaria Lane of Selma, Alabama and Omar Lane of Selma, Alabama; and his siblings, Sarah Thomas of Headland, Alabama, Brenda Jackson of Headland, Alabama, Daniel Dean of Headland, Scotty Dean of Headland, Kenneth Dean of Headland and MottLee Dean (Emma) of Dothan. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
