He was predeceased by: his parent John Levin Skipper; and his granddaughter Peyton Pennington. He is survived by: his parent Lois Snell Skipper; his wife Luverne Rich Skipper; his daughters, Deborah Skipper Furqueron (Kinsey) and Patsy Skipper Sanders (Dothan); his sisters, Betty Spivey of Kinsey and Annette Cherry (Cowarts); his grandchildren, Danny Sconyers, Brian Sconyers (Allison), Glenn Sanders, Sean Sanders, Heather Levengood (Jereme), Jeremiah Sanders and Christopher Felton; and his grandson-in-law Mike Pennington.
