He was predeceased by: his son Samuel W. Derrick; his parents, Kirby Smith Derrick, II and Helen Williams Derrick; his siblings, Paul Edward Derrick and Nancy Derrick; and his wife Lucy Rivers Tipton Derrick.
He is survived by: his sons, Kirby Smith Derrick, IV and Mac Edward Derrick; and his sister Helen Derrick Underwood. He is also survived by five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
