He was predeceased by: his parents, James Lemons and Myrtle Lemons (Boyett); his child Jerry Wayne Lemons; and his brother Billy Joe Lemons. He is survived by: his children, Tammy McMillan (James), James Lemons (Kimberly), Jessie Lemons, Jennifer Welch and Missy Leatherwood (Billy); his grandchildren, Guy Jr., Nicholas, Christopher, Jonathan, James Paul, Nichole, Kristy, Chris Jr., Daniel, Phillip III, Corey, Faith, Billy IV, Alex and Johnathan; and his aunt Ruth Morgan. He is also survived by 33 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation was held on Sunday, January 19th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Hazel Green Funeral Home (13921 US-231, Hazel Green, AL 35750). A funeral service was held on Sunday, January 19th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
