She was predeceased by: her parents, Walter Lee and Bertie Lorene Byrd; her siblings, Rosie Lucille Cowan (James Earl), J. W. Cowan (Mary Jo), Alton Wayne Byrd and Sammy Ellis Byrd (Sharon Nyoka); and her brothers-in-law, Bill Knight and Roger Martin.
She is survived by: her husband Lawrence "Pee Wee" Simmons; her son William Derek Simmons (Deborah); and her grandchildren, Dakota Brandon Simmons (Serenity) and Devon Taylor Simmons (Brenen Gibbs).
