He was predeceased by: his parents, Felix Rutherford and Minnie Ruth Rutherford; and his sister Linda Akers. He is survived by: his wife Barbara Rutherford; his siblings, Judy Gardner and Bruce Rutherford; and his children, Shawn Rutherford, Wesley Rutherford (Charity), Mark McAuley (Kelly), Phillip Richards, Aleah Smith (Ernest) and Michael Thrasher (Valerie). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

The family request that in lieu of flowers, donations to be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
