She was predeceased by: her parents, Leonard Lanus and Roberta LaVonne Lanus (Marchant); her husband Roger Van Alstine; her son Ronald Van Alstine; and her brothers, James and Robert.

She is survived by: her daughter Denise Berendes (Todd) of Harvest, AL; her grandson Brandon Berendes of Harvest, AL; her sisters, Shirley Lanus of Fort Dodge, IA and Wanda Nelson (Dave) of Woodward, IA; and her sister-in-law Darlene Pullen (Mark).
