He was predeceased by: his parents, C. D. Dowling and Gladys Snuggs Dowling. He is survived by: his wife Debbie McDuffie Dowling; his children, Marcie Sawyers, Alan, Vance and Charlie Dowling III (Chuck); his grandchildren, Haley Rykard (Adam), Casey Riddle (Tanner), Tyler Dowling, John-David Sawyers (Simran), Mason Dowling, Elijah Sawyers, Carley Dowling, Gracie Baxter Levi (Allen) and Ava Charlie Dowling; his great grandchildren, Ella Grace Riddle, Arthur Sawyers, Hattie Rykard of Virginia and Brody Riddle; and his brother Robert S. Dowling (Virginia). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.
