He was predeceased by: his parents, Rev. James Arthur Johnson and Irene Patridge Johnson; and his sisters, Carolyn Alexander (Vernon), Barbara Matthews (Skipper) and Joy Spradlin.

He is survived by: his wife Robbie Johnson; his children, James Brent Johnson (Mary), Jonathan Adam Wills (Kim), Miranda Ann Burnette (Joe) and Jamie Wills; his sister Kathy Elaine Johnson; his grandchildren, Nathaniel Johnson, Samantha Johnson, Peyton Johnson, Karrigan Johnson, Dillon Brown (Sydni), Cheyenne Lively, Hunter Burnette, Blake Hardin, Shelby Hardin, Gavin Hardin, Aidan Wills, Kaleigh Wills, Jonathan Wills and Kinsleigh Wills; and his great grandchildren, Cooper Brown, Taylor Mulato and Kayden Brown.
