He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell Martin and Pearlie Lawrimore Martin; his sisters, Beatrice Goodwin and Shelby Randolph; and his stepson Tommy Hamby.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Martin; his daughters, Mindy Teresa Stewart, Hope Rutherford (Rodney) and Sandie Preedom (Paul); and his grandchildren, Joseph Hamby (Stasia), Amanda Terry, Alex Akhoondmirza, Layla Akhoondmirza and Ashley Rutherford. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren; his beloved cat, J-Lo; and several nieces, nephews.
