He was predeceased by: his father Johnie Mac Cavender; his grandparents, John William, Margie Cavender, Hubert and Alene Whitfield; his uncle Gerald; and his mother-in-law Carolyn Barnett.

He is survived by: his wife Tammy Cavender; his children, Andy Cavender (Sarah) and Somer Waldrep (Kevin); his mother Bonnie Cavender; his brother Kurt Cavender; his grandchildren, Kayla, Jessica, James, Christian Waldrep, John, Kelton and Colton Cavender; his father-in-law LJ Barnett; and his brothers-in-law, Jacky Barnett and Keith Barnett. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
