He was predeceased by: his wife Ruby D. Whitman; and his daughter Lynda Whitman. He is survived by: his children, James Whitman, David Whitman, Steve Whitman, Doris Barr (Frances Whitehead) and Judy Kizewski; his sister Jeanette Riddle; and his stepsister Lanita Hamby.
