He was predeceased by: his parents, Alvino Velasquez and Carlotta Velasquez; and his brothers, Louis and George Velasquez. He is survived by: his wife Effey Velasquez; his daughters, Amelia Mann, Tiffany Mays of Haleyville, AL., Santa, Lydia Velasquez of Michigan and Irma Mendola (Freddy) of Texas; and his siblings, Esther Guerrero of Michigan, Mary Helen Guzman of Michigan, Sammy, Richard, Bobby Velasquez of Michigan and Alvino Velasquez, Jr. of Florida. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and other family members.
