He was predeceased by: his parents, Coleman S. Banks and Velva Carter Banks. He is survived by: his wife Sylvia Barnett Banks; his children, Alicia Banks Cotton (Chad) and Charles H. Banks, Jr. (Denise); and his grandchildren, Carly Banks, Kelley Banks, Sara Beth Cotton, Brock Cotton and Brett Cotton.
