He was predeceased by: his father Robert L. Phillips; his son Byron C. Phillips; and his great grandchild Avery Marie Murphy. He is survived by: his wife Diem Phillips; his mother Juanita Jackson Phillips; his children, Apen Phillips (Sheila) and Deborah Butler (Alan); his grandchildren, Kelli Phillips-Jones (Charles Gibbs), Christopher Butler (Sydney Kate Watson), Aprena Phillips, Brian Butler, Ethan Butler (Jessie) and Emily Murphy (Ethan); his great grandchildren, Garaden Butler and Zayn Murphy; and his siblings, Dennis Phillips (Vicky) of Elkville, Illinois, Teresa Phillips and Susan Grigsby (Kevin) of Anna Illinois. He is also survived by several nieces & nephews.
Donations can be made in his honor to Clearview Cancer Institute or the American Cancer Society.
