It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Lewis Howell of Gurley, Alabama, who passed away on February 6, 2025, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though John may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the echoes of his kindness, the warmth of his embrace, and the light of his enduring love.
He was predeceased by: his wife Shirley Darlene Howell. He is survived by: his children, David Howell (Laura), Rodney Howell, Daniel Howell (Anna) and Sandra LaBonte (Cary). He is also survived by 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 2 great, great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Monday, February 10th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Spry Funeral Home of Huntsville (2411 Memorial Pkwy NW, Huntsville, AL 35810). A funeral service was held on Monday, February 10th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Monday, February 10th 2025 at the Maple Hill Cemetery (202 Maple Hill St SE, Huntsville, AL 35801).
