He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude McCay and Claudine McCay; his siblings, Jackie and Kenneth McCay; and his son Terry McCay.

He is survived by: his wife Sandra Helms McCay; his children, Van McCay (George-Ann) and Tim McCay; and his grandchildren, Matt McCay (Julie), Taylor McCay (Nikki), Andrew McCay (Brianna), Erin Dye (Clint), Emily McCay (Wesley), Addison McCay, Anthony Sharp (Kayla) and Adam Sharp (Merilee). He is also survived by many great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that you make donations to St. Judes Children Hospital.

“The high light of the day was to leave school and drive a car with Mr McCay as my teacher. He was kind and gentle and obviously had nerves of steel to put himself in that position on a constant basis Once while I was driving he turned off the ignition to see how I would handle the "emergency". Out of total reflex I reached to put the gear into "park" to so that I could start it again. Did I also mention he had the reflexes of a cat? He quickly stopped me from doing so!
