He was predeceased by: his parents, Luther William and Opal Mullinax; his wife Maxine Mulinax; his son Gerald Mullinax; and his brothers, Bobby and Billy Mullinax.

He is survived by: his children, Janice Ann Mullinax, Marketta Cagle (Randall) and James Mullinax (Tamey); his grandchildren, Jackson Mullinax, Gavin Mullinax, Harley Mullinax, Chris Morgan, Camelia Morgan, Matthew Mullinax, Justin Mullinax, Kasey Smith, Chasity Welch, Jessica Jones and James "Bubba" Mullinax; and his sisters, Virginia Staton, Carolyn Howell, Wanda Helton and Patricia Duke (David).
