He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude Burton and Lois Burton; and his brothers, Herbert Burton and Gene Burton. He is survived by: his wife Charlotte McCreless Burton; his children, Brad Burton (Mary) and Paige Burton; his granddaughter Savannah Burton; and his siblings, Steve Burton (Sue) and Ginger Burton. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Shepherd's Cove Hospice of Guntersville First United Methodist Church.
