He was predeceased by: his parents, Elton Howell and Mary Howell; his siblings, Nancy McCreary, Lee and Sid Howell; and his granddaughter Rebekah Brown.
He is survived by: his wife Joy Howell; his son James Howell, Jr. (Shauna); his grandson James Elton Howell; and his brother Donald Howell. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
