He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Butts and Nell Jackson Butts; and his siblings, Frances Rowell, Sonny Butts and James "Bo" Butts.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia Butts; his children, Jerry Wayne Butts and Thomas "Bubba" Butts (Jennifer); his granddaughter Mallory Butts; and his sister Charlotte Hitt. He is also survived by numerous other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the building fund at Stave Creek Baptist Church.
