He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe Hiram Heartsill and Rebie Griggers Heartsill; and his siblings, Nathan Hiram Heartsill, Mary Ann Mitchell and Doris Coker.

He is survived by: his wife Melvia Jean Cumbie Heartsill; his children, Travis Heartsill (Janet) and Valerie Heartsill McLain; his siblings, Donnie Heartsill and Judy Boswell; his granddaughter Harper Lea Heartsill Simmons (Cameron); his great grandchild Emberlea Kamryn Simmons; his stepgrandchildren, Anne Blake Langford and Matthew Langford (Anne Claire); his stepson Matt Langford (Ashley); and his son-in-law Tony McLain.
