He was predeceased by: his wife Melody Diane Ponder; his parents, Charlie Arnold Ponder, I and Georgia Clodine Newton Ponder; his brother Charlie Arnold Ponder, II; and his brother-in-law Sherrell Turner.

He is survived by: his sister Charlotte Turner; and his sister-in-law Rebecca Ponder. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.
