He is survived by: his son John Michael James II (Laura) of Mayfield, KY; his grandchildren, Taylor James of Mayfield, KY, Jaclyn James of Mayfield, KY and Sutton James of Mayfield, KY; and his siblings, Doug James (Vickie), Paul James (Lisa) and Cindy Knasel (Carl).
