He was predeceased by: his parents, John William and Fannie Newton Cooper; and his siblings, Cecil Cooper and Edna Sue Sims. He is survived by: his wife Mary Emma Cooper (Harrison); his children, Sandra Rice (Sean), Sharon Donde (Raymond) and Bruce William Cooper (Amy); his sister Joann Johnson (Joe); and his grandchildren, Heather Tindal, Jennifer Tindal Jones (Mason), Rachael Donde, Holly Donde Williams (Ryan), Dalton Cooper Donde, Emma Ruth Cooper and Olivia Rose Cooper. He is also survived by five great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to First Baptist Church or to the Alabama Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.
