It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Fred McClain Whaley of Greensboro, Alabama, born in Akron, Alabama, who passed away on December 30, 2022, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil Whaley and Mable Livingston Whaley; and his sisters, Jamie Wright (Joe) and Evelyn Whaley. He is survived by: his former wife Janet Shipley; his wife Sue Whitfield; his children, Michael Whaley (Janet), Mark Whaley (Janet), Mary Etta Whaley and Amanda Whaley Griffin (Mike); his stepsons, Steve Mitchell (Michelle), Dave Mitchell (Tina) and Joel Mitchell (Roxanne); and his siblings, Johnny Whaley (Flora) and Maude Ryder. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
