She was predeceased by: her son Kenneth Marlon Smith; her parents, Richard Ashley and Lillian Ashley; and her sisters, Clara Davison and Doris Simmons.

She is survived by: her husband J. T. Smith; her children, Dewayne Smith (Connie) and Glennice Hall (Bryan); and her grandchildren, Diana Johnson (BJ), Zachary Smith (Tiffany), Blake Mears (Kimberly), Mendy Burton Walker and Courtney Mears Key. She is also survived by eight great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; and numerous nieces & nephews.
