It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Valeta M. Pitts of Gordon, Alabama, born in Greensboro, Florida, who passed away on January 19, 2024, at the age of 74, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, James M. Phillips and Pearl Phillips (Mears); her husband Thomas L. Pitts; and her siblings, Mary Tipton, Kate Edenfield, Edna Phillips, James Phillips and Wesley Phillips.

She is survived by: her children, James Burke (Wendy), Chadwick Burke (Ashley), Matthew Pitts (Amanda), Linda Burke (Dewayne), Beth Evans (Clay) and Dottie Burke. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
