He was predeceased by: his brother Tony Akin; and his parents, J. V. Akin and Una V. Sullivan Akin. He is survived by: his wife Sherry Akin; his children, Ann Nicole Jones (Alan), Donny Akin and Dusty Akin; his siblings, Glen Akin (Cathy), James Akin (Kellie), Steve Akin (Phenicia) and Barbara Waldrop; and his grandchildren, Nickolas Jones, Rylen Jones and Trinity Jones. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
