He was predeceased by: his son-in-law Tim Foster; and his siblings, Evelyn Smith, Everette Porter and Jim Porter. He is survived by: his wife DesMarie Porter of Gordo, Ala.; his children, Desirae Foster of Fayette, LaDawn Nevel (Kerry) of Reform, Ala. and Duane Porter (Bobbie) of Gordo, Ala.; his sister Louise Crawford of Hendersonville, Tenn.; his grandchildren, Daniel Porter, Steven Foster, Tasha Reyes, Colby Porter, Lilly Porter and Heidi Porter; and his great grandchildren, Christopher Brown and Bonita Reyes. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
