He was predeceased by: his mother Daphna Robinson Gibson; and his brother-in-law Ernest Lacy McElroy. He is survived by: his father Raymond Lafayette Gibson of Barrytown, AL; his wife Henrietta Gibson of Barrytown, AL; his children, John Raymond "Gibby" Gibson, II (Jeanna Rivers Gibson) of Pennington, AL and Jennifer Gibson Shoemaker of Barrytown, AL; his sister Nancy Ellen McElroy of Barrytown, AL; and his grandchildren, Caitlin Deskin Newton (Christopher), Brayden Russell Shoemaker, Olive Rivers Gibson and Tenley Rose Gibson.
