He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Gay Steele Gillespie and Edith Grace Mahan Gillespie; his wife Geraldine Flowers Gillespie; his daughter Sharon Gillespie Williams (Bryan) of Olive Branch; his grandson Jeff (Rebecca); his son Jeffrey Gillespie (Michelle) of Arlington; his grandson Maxwell; his daughters, Linda Gillespie of Auburn, Alabama and Kathy Gillespie Humphrey (Larry) of Opelika; his grandchildren, Michael, Mary Beth Gardner (Noah), Matthew and Robert; his sisters, Elizabeth Estep of Tazewell, Tennessee, Ann Walling of Newton and Mary Bratton of Castlewood, Virginia; and his brother-in-law Steve Flowers (Carol) of Rome, Georgia.

Because of the COVID pandemic, no visitation will be held.

In lieu of flowers, friends may make a donation to the Auburn United Methodist Church or a charity of their choice.
