It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mildred Smith Merritt (Geneva, Alabama), born in Slocomb, Alabama, who passed away on March 17, 2021, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Byron Smith and Ethel Strickland Smith; her husband David Merritt; her children, Gayle Snuggs and Eueal Merritt; her son-in-law Thomas Snuggs (Mort); and her sisters, Kate Blackwelder and Sarah Kent.
She is survived by: her son Dickey Merritt; her daughter-in-law Huberta Meritt; her grandchildren, Melynda Caffarelli, Starla Smith, Sherrill Snuggs, Stewart Snuggs, Dallas Merritt, Tiffany Merritt, Laura Tucker, Dashton Merritt, Erin Wood, Rhea McGinnas and Ramona Theriot; and her sisters, Nell Johnston, Jean Rodgers and Lee Waters. She is also survived by 15 great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren.
The family kindly requests those who are planning to attend the services to please wear a facial covering and practice social distancing.
