He was predeceased by: his parents, James William and Verlie Beatrice Kimbrough; his former wife Elaine Dodson Johnson; his wife Susan Lillian Johnson; and his brother James William Johnson, Jr..
He is survived by: his children, Mike Johnson (Clara) of Dothan and Patricia "Patty" L. Dumoulin (Richard) of Cowarts; his grandchildren, Amanda McArdle and Quenton McArdle; and his sisters, C. Sharon Smith of Cottonwood and Nita Johnson of Opelika. He is also survived by four nieces and one nephew.
