It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Melvia Ray of Gaylesville, Alabama, born in Cherokee, Alabama, who passed away on September 28, 2020, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Thomas Alvin Edison Ray and Bonnie Estelle Ray; her siblings, Glen Ray, Ben Ray, Lois Poorman and Gay Clements; her grandchildren, Amanda Maxwell, Lela Slayton, Christy Pittman and Casey Hall; and her son-in-law Phillip Pittman.
She is survived by: her children, Johnny Ray Slayton, Annette Mason (John), Gaynell Pittman, Brenda Hall (Sam) and Mary Wilbanks (Tommy); her stepchildren, Carl Cochran and Diane Wood; and her sisters, Mary Schmitz and Tressie Young. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
