He was predeceased by: his parents, Elda Jane and Crawford Petty; his brother Damon Petty; and his children, Linda Harper and Ricky Petty.

He is survived by: his wife Shirley Petty; his daughter Sandra Riley (Richard); and his stepchildren, Phyllis Garrett, Randy Mahaffey (Rita) and Tamara Roberts (Ken).

In Lieu of flowers a contribution to Hughes Memorial Baptist Church is appreciated.
