He was predeceased by: his parents, Noble Earnest Adkins and Lillian Hogan Adkins; his sisters, Cathryn Marie Adkins, Gwendolyn Little Teems and Myra Faulk; and his siblings-in-law, Sammie Faulk, Earnest Little, L. K. Little and Jane Adkins.

He is survived by: his wife Betty Clay Adkins; his children, Janice Adkins and David Adkins (Tracie); his siblings, Doris Adkins Little and Sidney Adkins (Wanda); and his stepgrandchildren, Kaylin Thomas and Jeffrey Thomas. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
