It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Delbert Hand of Gardendale, Alabama, who passed away on January 10, 2025, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of James Delbert Hand to pay them a last tribute.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Otis Lee and Ana Little Hand; his wife Edna Crouch Hand; his daughter Linda Hand Ellison; and his siblings, Ethel Graves, Thomas Hand, Estelle Hand, Iva Nell Maldonaldo, Sara Johnson, A. W. Hand, Billie Joan Kinney and Ronald Hand.
He is survived by: his children, Jim Hand, Doug Hand (Lawanna) and Carol Hand Brown (Jay); his nephew Del (Christy); his grandchildren, April (David), Scott, Eric (Kathleen), Travis, Julie and Haley (Jake); his great grandchildren, Ivy (Joey), Erin and Alister; his great great grandchild Lily; his siblings, Betty Hand Ballew, Bobbie Jean Hand Moore (Bill) and Donald Hand (Mary Ann); and his close friend Brenda Gilliland. He is also survived by extended family and many close friends.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, January 14th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Ridout's Gardendale Chapel (2029 Decatur Hwy, Gardendale, AL 35071). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, January 14th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Sacred Harp Musical Heritage Association – 8021 Randall Rd, Huntsville, AL 35802.
