He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Atkinson and John Atkinson of Hemet, CA; and his son Christopher Atkinson of Smokerise, AL.. He is survived by: his wife Melba; his children, Kelly Chapman (Chris) of Homewood, David Atkinson of Birmingham and Jeff Tanner (Kim) of Corner; his grandchildren, Kathryn Suttle, Rachel Suttle, Emilee Cassidy (Drew), Reid Tanner, Aiden Atkinson, Chace Atkinson and Malin Atkinson; and his great grandchild Olive.
Visitation was held on Saturday, January 25th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Gardendale Heritage Funeral Home (2214 Decatur Hwy, Gardendale, AL 35071). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, January 25th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
