He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Wiley and Mamie Stallings Hammond; his granddaughters, Addison Quinn and Catherine Lincy Snead; and his siblings, Joyce Fleming (James), Josephine Richards (Willis), Mamie Johnson, Jeannette Staples, Nancy Vice (Jerry), Bill Hammond and Joseph Hammond (Faye).
He is survived by: his wife Peggy; his daughters, Vicky Porter (Tim) and Amanda Snead (Craig); his grandchildren, Ali Porter, Ellie Porter, Patrick "Wilson" Snead, Avery Snead and Audry Snead; his siblings, Patsy Stephens, Julia Scott and Lamar Hammond; his close friends, Scott, Sue Hardee, David and Pat Herrod; and his nephews, Walter Staples and Mike Richards. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, December 18th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Collier-Butler Funeral Home (824 Rainbow Dr, Gadsden, AL 35901). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, December 18th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
