It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Lewis Thaxton of Gadsden, Alabama, who passed away on December 21, 2023, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Eugene Lewis and Mary Kate Lewis; and her sisters, Lottie Lewis, Algene Jackson and Mattie Louise Lewis.
She is survived by: her children, Vickie L. Woods, Muriel Mechelle Lewis, Elizabeth Lewis, Celestia Lewis, Evettie Lewis Jones (Marlon), Tonya Lewis Harrell (Stevie), Benjamin Lewis (Sandra), Emmanuel Norvell Lewis and Milton Lewis; her siblings, Pauline Banks, Willie Lee Nowell and Robert Lee Lewis; her in-laws, Mary Billingsley and Barbie Lewis; and her close friends, Mattie Ingram, Kathy Jackson, Mary Billingsley and Ruth Gibson. She is also survived by other relatives and friends.
