He was predeceased by: his parents, Marion Winston Barton and Mary DeEtta Fox Barton; his parents-in-law, Dr. David Schell and Zela Schell; and his brother-in-law Kenneth Holcomb.
He is survived by: his wife Kymn Barton; his children, Michael Barton (Natalie), Matthew Barton (Morgan) and Kristin Holmes (Logan); his stepchildren, Pamella Vann (Adam), Amy Allen (Andy) and John Spurlock (Stephanie); his grandchildren, Sheppard, Faith Barton, Judson, Jeremiah Barton, Addison, Connor Vann, Avery, Ava Allen, Dane, Dakota and Joanna Spurlock; and his siblings, Marilyn Fluharty (Ray), Marv Barton (Tom Oprandi), Sandy Bessemer (Jerry) and Marlene Holcomb. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
